Questions that come up most often when installing the Xverse extension, using it to manage assets, and resolving connection issues with other sites.
Installing the extension
Xverse is distributed as a browser extension for Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave, as well as for Mozilla Firefox. Chromium-based browsers typically install it from the Chrome Web Store listing, while Firefox uses its own add-ons store.
Yes. Installing the browser extension itself has no cost. Network fees for sending Bitcoin or Stacks transactions are separate and are set by the underlying blockchain, not by the wallet.
Most browsers hide newly installed extensions behind a puzzle-piece icon by default. Click that icon, find Xverse in the list, and select the pin icon to keep it visible in the toolbar.
The same wallet can be restored on another browser or device using its seed phrase. Each installation is independent, so the extension must be installed and the wallet restored separately on each one.
Using the wallet
Both are self-custody wallets for the same ecosystems, and a wallet created in one can typically be restored in the other using the seed phrase. The extension is designed for use inside a desktop browser, while the mobile app runs as a standalone application on a phone.
No. The extension can be installed and the wallet created or restored without sending any funds. Many users complete setup first and review the security guidance before transferring assets.
The unlock password only protects access on that specific device. The wallet itself can be restored on the same or a new installation using the seed phrase, which is why keeping the seed phrase safe matters more than memorizing the password.
Troubleshooting
Confirm the extension is enabled in the browser's extension settings, refresh the page, and check that the site supports Bitcoin or Stacks wallet connections. Some sites require selecting "Connect Wallet" and choosing Xverse explicitly from a list of wallet options.
No. This is a phishing attempt. No legitimate support channel asks for a seed phrase, and a wallet never needs to be "verified" in this way. Do not respond, and do not enter the seed phrase anywhere outside the official extension during setup or recovery.
Bitcoin and Stacks transactions are confirmed by their respective networks, not by the wallet software. Confirmation times vary with network activity and the fee selected; the transaction status can be checked using the transaction ID on a public blockchain explorer.
