Xverse Install Guide

Install the Xverse Browser Extension

Last updated: October 29, 2026

This article covers adding the Xverse wallet extension to a desktop browser and completing first-time setup. Use it the first time the extension is installed, or when reinstalling after a browser reset.

Note

Install the extension only from the official browser web store listing. Searching for "Xverse" and checking the publisher name before installing helps avoid counterfeit listings.

Step 1: Open the extension store

Open the web store that matches the browser in use.

Google Chrome

Store: Chrome Web Store

Microsoft Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers use the same Chrome Web Store listing.

Mozilla Firefox

Store: Firefox Browser Add-ons

Firefox lists the extension separately under Firefox Browser Add-ons.

Microsoft Edge

Store: Chrome Web Store (via "Allow extensions from other stores")

Edge can install directly from the Chrome Web Store once that setting is enabled.

Step 2: Search for Xverse

  1. In the store's search field, type "Xverse".
  2. Confirm the listing is published by Xverse and check the description mentions Bitcoin and Stacks.
  3. Open the listing page to view permissions and reviews before installing.

Step 3: Add the extension

  1. Select "Add to Chrome" (or the equivalent button for Firefox/Edge).
  2. Review the requested permissions in the confirmation dialog.
  3. Confirm the installation. The browser downloads and enables the extension automatically.

Step 4: Pin the extension to the toolbar

  1. Click the puzzle-piece (extensions) icon in the browser toolbar.
  2. Find Xverse in the list and select the pin icon next to it.
  3. The Xverse icon now stays visible in the toolbar for quick access.

Step 5: Create or restore a wallet

  1. Click the Xverse icon to open the extension.
  2. Choose "Create a new wallet" for a first-time setup, or "Restore wallet" when migrating an existing seed phrase.
  3. Set a strong password used to unlock the extension on this device.
  4. Write down the seed phrase shown on screen and store it offline; see the security guide for details.
  5. Confirm the seed phrase when prompted to finish setup.

Warning

Nobody from Xverse or any legitimate support channel ever needs the seed phrase. Treat any request for it as a scam, including messages that imitate official support.

Step 6: Verify the installation

  1. Open the extension and confirm a wallet address is displayed.
  2. Visit a site that supports Xverse and use its "Connect Wallet" option to confirm the extension responds.
  3. Review the wallet's extension permissions periodically, as described in the security guide.
